see you all after college
“Hannah. You are treating our guest quite rudely.” A chiding voice came from down the hall. Mani approached, clad in a long robe that covered almost his entire body. The hood was even drawn up. He was using a cane to aide in his walking as he approached the door. ”Before you even think of chiding me you would do well to remember human medical knowledge is hardly suited for my form. I am fine.”
He moved toward the door and the objects before it seemed to float gently out of his way. If someone was meddling here, trying to learn something about Darkside. Well why not talk to the man himself. Waving a hand the door swung gently open. Mani stared cooly at the individual before him.
Though he may have been injured, his presence was as foreboding as it ever was.
“If you have questions about Darkside. Why not ask the man himself?” He spoke curtly. ”Darkside was a part of me I locked away. No one knows him as well as I do.”
“Of course.” He continued. ”If you wish to make more idle threats to my protege, well then, I invite the challenge.” He moved protectively between Hannah and the male.
Barbed Tail hovering over his head more like a scorpion’s stinger than a snake, the Lord Hydra’s acidic gaze traveled over the other males shoulder to burn into the girl cowering behind him. A low hissing sound was still subtly audible coming from the man’s mouth regardless of the fact his teeth were gritted harshly together, he wanted vengeance so bad it was almost intoxicating.
“Of course Your Lordship,” there was no attempt made to mask the contempt in his voice, he was angry and he wanted the frail old moon rock to know, “Children will be Children, or so the saying goes,” he sneered.
The Hydra was merely acting upon instinct, as he gave a curt bob of his head to acknowledge the ranking of the other royal, this man regardless of his current physical state was still one of the highest ranks among their politics, manners were expected, quarrel or not.
“Perhaps we could speak in a more secluded-,” The pointed tips of the Hydras ears flinched momentarily, something had gotten his attention.
There was the faintest sound of something he couldn’t quite place his finger on, and the mystery of the foreign tone put him on edge, his shoulders tensing, his tail still hovering closely by.
“How many are on the moon.” He demanded, “Right now. who else is on the moon. You, the bots, the girl, the mongrel,… who else is here.”
Hannah hadn’t expected Mani to come down the corridor, worry spread over her face as she lowered the metal pipe, “Mani! You should be in bed, wasn’t Snioo-” she paused looking down as Snioodle padded up next to her, a ball in his mouth… that explained everything.
“You’re really not very good at the whole watching thing are you.” she murmured. Looking back to Hydra she watched him warily. Hannah didn’t trust him… not at all.
“I wasn’t sure who he was, or if he was going to hurt you Mani… probably shouldn’t have locked a star up. But I was just being careful.” Feigning a smile she nodded to the Lord. Although she still didn’t trust him
There was the thunderous clank of a bolt setting in a lock, and the slitted pupils of the lord were on the door in an instant. His lips pulled away from his jagged enamels, the corner of his mouth twitching in utter fury, a low malicious hiss filled the room echoing out into the hallway. “Don’t be so naïve, Hannah Smalley,” his words dripped with venom as he approached the door, he ran his sharp nails down the wall, soliciting a high pitched shriek that echoed around the room. When he reached the door he gingerly pressed his forehead to the door, whatever expression was on his face was hidden under the shadows the walls casted. Soft as a whisper and hardly audible he cooed through the door, “This room was made to hold fearlings, how long do you expect it to hold a star-” If there was an answer it was lost as the Hydras harpoon shaped tail arched back and with a great amount of force pierced through the material of the door. The barbs at the end of his tail expanded, and retreated backwards into the interrogation chamber; As the Hydra yanked his tail back into the room, the barbs acted like hooks and gouged an even larger hole out upon their return, debris flying everywhere.
Hannah flinched, looking for a weapon, grabbing the nearest object she held it… a metal pipe. Probably wouldn’t help too good here but she had to defend with something.
She’d locked a Star in that cell… brilliant, add that onto the ever expanding list of things she did wrong. Backing up a few paces she took in a deep breath, with everything that had happened she had a right to be cautious, even of stars.
Though she could have probably used Nightlights dagger in this fight, she’d rather not risk breaking it. There was just one problem…
Hannah had never fought before.
“And do you realize this is through my own action, not Manny’s.”
“He doesn’t dictate what I do, I’m human after all.”
I hope you have a good excuse for doing that
Or you’ll be in big trouble
Wincing Hannah resisted the urge to pry the snake from her leg, why he kept on touching her she had no clue… but was growing increasingly uncomfortable as her heart pumped a tiny bit faster than normal.
“I uhh… sir? You tail is sort of… around my neck, and your snake is around my leg. If its not too much bother could you take them off?” she asked quietly.
“Hmm?” Returning to reality, he loosed his tail from the child’s neck, “Ahh, yes.” He cast a bored gaze down at the snake coiled around her leg, motioning with a light bob of his head for it to make itself scarce; the serpent vanished in a wisp of smoke. “Can you show me the room Tsar “Manny” was holding darkside in while he locked him away on the moon, it’s rather imperative I check in on something.”
Relieved that the snake had removed itself Hannah rubbed the back of her neck, nodding. “The interrogation chamber…” Leading the way down the corridor she whispered to a strange looking dog to ‘keep on ear on Mani’ for her.
It wasn’t long before they reached the room. “This is where Darkside was held when Tsar Lunar caught him.”
The Lord stepped into the empty room with a scoff, “Did that old fool honestly believe that this, powder room, would be able to hold a fearling of Dark sides nature,” Hydra idly kicked at one of the four walls the faintest hint of a smile spread across his mouth, “unfit to rule indeed,” he grumbled in a hushed tone. Turning back to the girl, he propped himself against a wall, the long black talons that were his nails absently picked away at the paint, “How did Dark Side escape, Miss Smalley, everyone seems to sugar coat there answers when I ask, and I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth.” He cast the girl a harsh sideways glance, it was cold, fierce, and hollow.
“… he escaped because of me.” Hannah admitted, staying at the doorway, just waiting… as soon as his eyes were away she pushed the large door shut and locked it. “Did you know in some human laws this is legal? I don’t know what you want… but not just anyone asks for a tour of where a darkling was kept.”
If he got out… well it wasn’t Manny fault, this was through her own actions. Bracing the only door with as many objects as possible she backed away… if that furniture broke well she’d be in a bit of trouble.
~Snioodle, keep an eye on Mani.~
“… you might want to give him that back.”
“No you’re not a monster.”
“… Which forest?”
